
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav emphasizes the importance of sports infrastructure, quality training, and world-class facilities in Madhya Pradesh to promote sports. He also honours Sushri Kranti Goud, the first Indian woman on Lord's Test Honours Board.
In a speech at a felicitation ceremony held at Samvad Bhavan, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav addressed the growing emphasis of the Madhya Pradesh Government on strengthening sports infrastructure. He highlighted the 'Khelo Badho Abhiyan' initiative, which organizes sports competitions across every Assembly constituency and tehsil through the MP Cup and MLA Cup initiatives. These efforts have enabled athletes from Madhya Pradesh to excel at national and international sporting events. The Chief Minister also acknowledged that daughters are excelling alongside sons in various fields, citing Madhya Pradesh's daughter, Sushri Kranti Goud, as an example of exceptional talent and sporting excellence.
During the ceremony, Dr. Yadav honoured Sushri Kranti Goud, the first Indian woman cricketer to have her name inscribed on the Lord's Test Honours Board, with a cheque of ₹3 lakh and a memento, on behalf of the Department of Sports and Youth Welfare, Government of Madhya Pradesh. He also lauded her exceptional performance of claiming seven wickets at the historic Lord's Cricket Ground. Additionally, he presented an additional ₹2 lakh as a personal honorarium in recognition of this remarkable achievement.
Sushri Kranti Goud, who interacted with young cricketers and trainees of the Madhya Pradesh State Sports Academy, shared her inspiring journey. She credited her parents' unwavering support for her ability to overcome numerous hardships during her childhood and achieve her dream of wearing Team India's Blue Jersey.
Minister for Sports and Youth Welfare and Cooperation Shri Vishvas Kailash Sarang, Sports Secretary Shri Sanjeev Singh, Director of Sports and Youth Welfare Shri Anshuman Singh Yadav, senior officials of the Sports Department, and a large number of sportspersons were present at the ceremony.
