Further details reveal a total of 10 additional deaths due to the floods in Assam, bringing the death toll to 41. Authorities have issued advisories urging caution and vigilance as heavy rainfall is predicted for the next few days.

Incessant rain has led to a rising death toll of 41 in Assam, as reported yesterday. Over 6.4 lakh individuals have been affected across 40 revenue circles in the state.

Ten more flood-related deaths were reported yesterday, adding to the existing tally. The ongoing relief and rescue operations aim to assist those in flood-stricken districts, where several rivers remain above the danger level.

The India Meteorological Department predicts moderate to heavy rainfall will persist in Assam for the next three to four days. To mitigate potential risks, the Assam State Disaster Management Authority has issued an advisory urging residents of low-lying and hillside areas to stay vigilant and follow weather updates and alerts from the administration.

In Guwahati, authorities have issued traffic advisories and urged commuters to remain cautious, as heavy rainfall may lead to waterlogging, traffic congestion and localised disruptions in several parts of the city. The Chief Secretary Dr Ravi Kota reviewed the flood situation in the worst-affected districts of Charaideo, Sivasagar, Jorhat and Golaghat and assessed the preparedness of various government departments.

He directed officials to ensure uninterrupted relief distribution, speedy restoration of essential services and repair of damaged infrastructure in flood-affected areas.
