A fresh clash took place between protesters from Assam and Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday, resulting in injuries and the Arunachal Pradesh Police firing three rounds in the air to control the situation. The confrontation followed an economic blockade initiated by student groups of Assam's Mising community against Arunachal Pradesh.

On Thursday, a clash erupted between protesters from Assam and Arunachal Pradesh in Dhemaji district, Assam. The incident occurred as an economic blockade launched by the Takam Mising Porin Kebang student organisation of Assam's Mising community, along with other local groups, continued against Arunachal Pradesh.

The economic blockade was initiated in response to a dispute that resulted in alleged firing by 'miscreants' from Arunachal Pradesh on Monday, injuring 12 persons from Assam. According to PTI, unidentified police officials reported the Monday incident.

During the clash on Thursday, some individuals from Arunachal Pradesh allegedly engaged in stone pelting against protesters from Assam. This led to injuries, prompting the Arunachal Pradesh Police to fire three rounds in the air to control the situation, as per an unidentified Assam government official.

In addition, all vehicles entering and exiting Arunachal Pradesh, except for emergency and school transportation, are being stopped at entry points due to the economic blockade. The student groups and local organizations have demanded that the long-pending Assam-Arunachal Pradesh boundary dispute be settled at the earliest, action be taken against those responsible for the firing on Monday, and an end to the alleged encroachment of Assam’s land.

Assam and Arunachal Pradesh share an 804.1-km border with 1,200 points of dispute. The two states have set up 12 regional committees to address the border disputes.
