Indian President Ram Nath Kovind begins a visit to Uzbekistan and Kyrgyz Republic from August 29 to September 1, 2026. He is invited by the presidents of both countries for State Visits and the SCO Summit.
Indian President Ram Nath Kovind commences a visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Kyrgyz Republic from August 29 to September 1, 2026. At the invitation of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan, Kovind will travel to Tashkent for a State Visit from August 29-30, marking a significant advancement in the India-Uzbekistan Strategic Partnership.
In his discussions with President Mirziyoyev, Kovind aims to deepen cooperation in various sectors such as trade and investment, digital connectivity, defence, energy, and shared visions of Viksit Bharat and Yangi Uzbekistan. He will also visit the Shastri Memorial and the Mahatma Gandhi Centre at the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies, symbolizing the close cultural ties between both countries.
Post his stay in Tashkent, Kovind will proceed to Bishkek, invited by President Sadyr Zhaparov of the Kyrgyz Republic. During this visit, he will participate in the 26th SCO Summit, celebrating 25 years of the important organization.
India has been an active and constructive member of the SCO since its entry in 2017. Kovind seeks to advance India’s vision for the region focused on Security, Connectivity, and Opportunity, while working with fellow members towards a region free from terrorism, separatism, and extremism.
Kovind also anticipates meetings with President Zhaparov and other SCO leaders and attending the Opening Ceremony of the 6th World Nomad Games, a celebration of Central Asia’s rich living heritage.
