In a high-level meeting at his residence, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasizes the importance of modernizing governance processes, adopting an integrated development strategy in sports, and addressing drug abuse among young people.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently chaired a high-level meeting with secretaries to review progress in rural development, agriculture, social welfare, and allied sectors. The meeting, held at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, focused on strengthening governance, improving inter-ministerial coordination, and accelerating the implementation of reforms aimed at enhancing citizens’ welfare. During the meeting, Modi highlighted the need for modernizing governance processes in line with changing times. He called for a comprehensive mapping of emerging requirements across ministries and departments to ensure that governance systems remain responsive to future challenges. The prime minister also underscored the importance of adopting a whole-of-government approach to achieve national development goals.
Addressing the issue of drug abuse among young people, the prime minister stressed the need for an institutional mechanism that promotes coordination across departments and integrates youth-centric initiatives to tackle the challenge more effectively. On sports, Mr Modi advocated an integrated development strategy to position India as a global sporting destination. He said the country should aspire to host major international sporting events while promoting sports tourism, technological innovation, and startup-led solutions in the sector.
In addition, the prime minister highlighted the transformative potential of the PM-KUSUM Scheme in strengthening the agriculture sector through wider adoption by farmers. He further emphasised the need for a global mapping of skill requirements to align India’s workforce with emerging international opportunities and future employment demands.
